Yesterday, my oldest and I were talking about “getting along” when you really just want to be right.
His perspective was incredible. This was his analogy:
If you were a snake in a box of nails, you would move smoothly around so that you didn’t get “caught up” on any sharp edges.
When I asked him to explain and relate his idea to a current situation, he said:
If you only had 2 hours to be around someone you didn’t really like or agree with but they were apart of your life, you should just move around the conversations smoothly and not get caught up on any points. When you just let things go by, it doesn’t mean that you don’t care. It means you don’t care about being right. You know people don’t change their mind just because someone doesn’t agree. Keep changing the subject until you find something you can talk about.
Not sure who needs to hear this other than me, but if it was you- let it soak in.
Life lessons from my ten year old. I never wanted to be a snake…lol
Have a great day.
