How do you attract the attention of a curious boy without screaming your brains out? I think I can help?
When the boys were little, I taught them a unique whistle call that we called our “Family Whistle”.
We would use this at playgrounds or in stores if anyone was separated from the group.
It became so much apart of our life that even my parents dog comes to it.
I have always loved how handy this is, even when the boys are off playing or even at soccer practice focused on the drill, they can hear my whistle and they know to find me.
This has helped us feel heard as parents and helped the kids feel connected, knowing we were only a whistle away.
Growing up, my Mom’s favorite movie was The Sound of Music. It wasn’t until years later that I realized my parenting technique wasn’t new, it was something I found attractive as a child.
